A Blogger with the Soul of a Poet
Today's Blogger of Note is A Shelter From the Storm
We love the quotes of Kris' posts, they always make you pause and think, plus she’s got a 36-year marriage which would make any of us envious. Kris is an energetic lady who has been blogging for years and has never lost sight of the fact that great content is what it's all about. Oh, and she takes care of her two preschool aged grandchildren. Did we mention she has a lot of energy.
Happy Reading,
Pam and Sandy

I love the name of her blog! Also love the poem she has up right now. Just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI also love love the name of her blog. And poet, you say? Will have to check her out. Love poems but poems. Sadly, poems don't get much love from bloggers.
ReplyDeleteOK two for two great blogs! I'm definitely liking it over here!!!

ReplyDeleteI have been following MissKriss' "Shelter" blog ever since I happened upon it in the Elder Blog list at another thought-provoking blog, As Time Goes By. I am the mother of two grown sons, and Miss Kriss' chronicles of her experiences with her "grandboys" are so true and touching. Her poems are not her only poetry. Her approach to life is poetry of spirit. Thanks for featuring her blog!
ReplyDeleteheading over there now! thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm quite impressed with MissKris and her blog!
ReplyDeleteYay for a new BON...enjoying WOW so far!
ReplyDeleteYay for a new BON...enjoying WOW so far!
ReplyDeleteI'm heading over there now!
ReplyDeleteThere is excitement in the air with you new project. Springtime is a great time to begin new things. Heading over to the new blog now.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a great place to be! Thanks for making this happen-- I'll be checking out all your members' blogs!
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday all, I'm heading over to see what Kris has written.
ReplyDeleteGoing to check out todays 'BON'!
ReplyDeleteYesterday Elle (over at 'A For Effort') and I both posted about 'WOW' (in fact, it was through her that I learned about you all) in the hopes it will pick up the momentum it deserves.
Just checking in to wish everyone happy camel day!
Peace and serenity,
~Jo

Sounds like a great blogger.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if she can bottle up some of that energy and sell it on Etsy!
This is a fantastic concept! Kudos to the two of you for finding a need and running with an idea.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I'm content worthy (we talk a lot about shoes and general weirdness), but I'll be following!
I, too, love the name. And just like Karen, if Kris were to sell her energy on Etsy, I'd be all over that!
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Kris. Kudos to Sandy and Pam for another great pick!
She seems fabulous. I'm loving this little community already :D
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing writer. I truly enjoyed reading her posts.
ReplyDeleteMiss Kriss had a great line: "On good days I'm an extroverted introvert. On bad days, an introverted extrovert."
ReplyDeleteResonated; I have such good and bad days.
I love the quotes that she selects to post on her blog!
ReplyDeleteHer blog, and her writing, are beautiful. GREAT BON!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great choice for BON! I love how passionate she is about writing!
ReplyDeleteTo those of you who've stopped by so far and been kind enough to leave comments both on my blog and on here...well, I am truly overwhelmed! Even tho I have a lot of healthy traffic I have never been blessed with a lot of commenters. I can't even get them to come out on Delurking days, haha! When I bemoaned the fact once, one of my 'regular' commenters spoke up and told me, "It's because you make us THINK, Kris, and so often after reading what you have to say, there isn't anything left to add. But many times I've found myself thinking about what you've written all day." So...that pretty much shut me up. As my schedule allows...I've had my grandboys for 12 hours each the past two days...I plan on returning the courtesy and stopping by to see each and every one of you. Thank you all for making my day so special!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed visiting her blog. However, I was hoping to follow her, but I didn't see the option in her sidebar. :(
ReplyDeleteWhat can I add? I'm looking forward in participating in this community of WOW readers. I'm due for a dose of wisdom. I was waiting for menopause to infuse me with special powers of knowledge and seriousness but all it did was to make me more cranky. Maybe this is where I will get some inspiration... Congrats to Pam and Sandy!
ReplyDeleteMultiple thank-yous to Pam and Sandy for starting this blog to highlight substantive-content bloggers. I'd been reading Kris for quite a while and am pleased that her site directed me to this new one. I'll be checking in regularly and look forward to bunches of new blogs to read!
ReplyDeleteI haven't liked the concept of having the Follower gadget on my blog...too much clutter in the sidebar and too much like popularity in high school! It used to be the Blogger toolbar at the top of a blog template had a "Follow this Blog" or some-such button but it no longer does...I looked before I came here to write this after reading Lauren's comment above. I REALLY don't want to add one but I will if others request it, too. I went to check my Followers on my Dashboard and 3 more have added themselves somehow...but I'm clueless as to how to do it. WOW is the only blog I've ever signed up to follow so I apologize for not being any fount of information!
ReplyDeleteHmmmmm...interesting! When I went back to my blog and refreshed the page, the "Follow" button WAS at the top on my Blogger toolbar. So when you come to visit and if you feel like following, maybe the fickle thing will be there for you, haha!
ReplyDeleteOne thing you'll find out about me is I AM a chatterbox. But actually quite quiet in 'real' life. Go figure.
ReplyDeleteI just checked out Kris' blog and not only is it well written but it exudes peacefulness. I can't think of a better compliment!
ReplyDelete=)

Just dropping by to show some bloggy lurve as I discovered you guys via WhiteSockGirl who's done a great pimp piece on your site !
ReplyDeleteGonna check out today's featured blog - the name itself is just fantastic !
Did I miss something? What happened to today's (Thursday, 3/25/10) 'BON"?
ReplyDeleteThanks, I will definitely check her Blog out!
ReplyDeleteA friend told me about this site and I like what I have seen so far. I love finding new people to read from.
ReplyDeleteHey everyone. I wanted to respond to Jo's comment in case there are other people who are wondering about today's BON. For right now, while WOW is growing, we will be featuring a new BON on MWF. We want to insure that all BON get as many readers as possible. The interest in being highlighted as BON has been amazing and we do anticipate going to M-F BONs in the near future. And please let us know if you would like to be BON. Without your participation, WOW can not succeed.
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteI am happy to join up, what a great way to get blogs out to the masses rather than people giving up their blog due to a lack of views and comments.
I just found you and I'm thrilled to get in on the conversation. I try to keep the content meaningful on my blog and have been looking for more great blogs to read. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteKris of "A Shelter From the Storm" is TRULY deserving of this commendation! My personal email correspondence with her is something I treasure--what she writes is always fascinating, whether it concerns day to day details or profound bits of wisdom. Yeah, Kris!!!
ReplyDeleteKaren
I just recently found her blog and I love it, and all of her inspirational quotes.
ReplyDeleteAahhhh, after a long and trying week with my hubby being hospitalized with pneumonia I am finally able to come back to WOW and catch up! After reading all of these comments I am VERY excited to check out the latest BON!!! She sounds like an amazing lady!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat blog. Her grandchildren will appreciate her "journal" of their adventures.
ReplyDeleteWonderful Blog! Wonderful poems, great insight. I really enjoyed my time there!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to let y'all know that Kris and I, who started out as "bloggy" friends 2 years ago but lost touch, have reconnected because of WOW. Thanks so much for getting us back to our roots!
ReplyDeleteUmmm.... just what the heck. I need to reenter this into my reader, obviously.
